Your Yosemite Fund dollars at work!

Edited to correct false assumption. Steve comments that tax dollars were not used in the making of this video, other than the pay Ranger Vicki Mates received, about 1 hour. Steve Bumgardner makes a good point via Twitter; embed Yosemite Nature Notes in your blog, because more views means continued funding. Once you see his work, you’ll agree that it’s worth your time to pass it on. You’ve already paid for them!

Edited to add more information: Ranger Jeffrey Trust Just informed me that all but this particular episode of Yosemite Nature Notes were funded by our taxes. No matter who paid for it, these videos are well worth watching–highly enjoyable, entertaining and informative. Think Myth Busters for Yosemite aficionados!

Be told: Some of the images displayed by Jonathan Klein in this video are deeply disturbing.

Memories of the promise of Spring

Western Sierra Dogwood bud, Curry Village, April 10, 2010

On April 10th, 2010, I took pictures of the dogwood buds in Curry Village. On April 11th, we had 6″ of snow. Tonight, April 12th, we’re getting more snow.

Will spring ever arrive?

Winter’s Return.

Yosemite Falls in April. Yes, April.

Yes, it’s lovely, but I am *so* over winter. Come on, Spring!

A note about advertising.

I have run this blog since inception ad-free; The noble reason is that I do not wish to have to moderate my writing to suit an advertiser, and the more immanent and pragmatic reason is that I’ve never gone looking for ad-sponsers, nor have I legitimately been approached by any businesses asking for ad-space.

I also am an employee of DNC, the concessionaire in Yosemite National Park. I do not wish to jeopardize my employment by running ads for competition.

Comments received will be screened for blog-spamming, and any that smell of advertisement will be marked as spam, and the erstwhile beneficiary of such ersatz comments will be notified once. Any subsequent “comments” will be displayed here and mocked and ridiculed. I will urge my readers to NOT patronize those establishments.

My blog. My rules. Be told.

If you have a service or goods that you’d like me to review, let me know. I will consider each request on a case-by-case basis. My decisions are final. My readers come to my blog to see pretty pictures, not be bombarded with reviews.
