Horsetail Falls, Feb 16th, 2007

Will you be going to Yosemite to photograph Horsetail Falls in February?

Ice forms wings on a rock in the Merced River

Yep. Still not dead yet. Finally going through my image library, a year after my date disaster. Now I’m getting ready to rebuild my Lightroom catalogs, and so I’m using Piknik to edit images online.

This image was created December 7th, 2006.

I’m re-filing old images, and having fun tweaking them. This image was captured at the Temple of Music in Roger Williams Park in Providence, RI in October of 2006.

Yes, yes, I know, my blog is turning into “All Horsetail Falls, All the Time!” Another non-iconic shot, with a sepia treatment. Enjoy!

Detail of the base of Half Dome. Late afternoon light puts buttresses into high relief.

Autumn in her hair

Cooler, darker mornings mean days are shortening. Mother Nature comes wearing autumn in her hair.

Now that August is upon us (and Costco has put out Christmas merchandise!), there’s talk in the photo-blog-o-sphere of fall color photography in the Eastern Sierra.

I’m going to try very hard this year not to make snide comments about the poor showing compared to New England. But truth of the matter is I’m terribly, terribly spoiled when it comes to autumnal foliage.

Fact of the matter is, I’m homesick for the brilliant colors, Mother Nature’s final blow-out bash before winter sets in. You’ll find me hanging around the one sugar maple in Yosemite Valley once the first hard frost hits. And don’t be surprised if you see me wiping my eyes, blowing my nose and muttering about allergies.

Just a little something for sun-baked summer eyes. Taken on the Ahwahnee Meadow on Solstice Eve, 2007.

Took this at Olmsted Point on June 14, 2008, and found it while working on the Ambitious Undertaking.
