Who is E. Howe?
I’m a photographer living and working in Yosemite National Park since May of 2005. This has its advantages and drawbacks; for example, it’s a long drive to the nearest shopping mall. On the downside, it’s not easy for friends to come and visit for a weekend, and there’s a serious dearth of good single malt whiskey here in the valley. For the most part, though, I love my life. I have access to some of the most spectacular scenery in the entire world on a daily basis. I can scout out landscapes to photograph, and I have an intimate knowledge of best the times of day for the best light. You can see my rather exhausting stock of photos on Flickr, currently more that 15,000 images. I also have a Live Journal account, but that’s mostly a means of keeping in touch with friends from around the world and to give voice to my political views.
What’s the story with the name?
In the summer of 2006, a dear friend and coworker gave me a small, incarnadine dome tent. Since much of my photography involved backpacking into the back country of the Sierra Nevada at the time, it was a godsend. I have this phobia of waking up to the stench of bear breath in my face. A small, lightweight tent may not have protected me from bears, but it made me a bit more relaxed at night. On my first overnight trip with the tent, I found it was very photogenic. In direct late afternoon light, it glowed! The Little Red Tent went with me on many trips, and I made a point of including it in some of my photos on each trip. Unfortunately, the Little Red Tent is on extended hiatus due to a broken flap zipper. It has been replaced with a bivvy tent, but I really miss the ease of setting up a dome tent.
I really like your work. Where can I buy prints?
Woo-hoo! YES! #happydance# Ahem. Thank you for your interest in my work. Prints can be purchased directly from me. I use a professional digital print lab in Oakhurst, and can recommend them highly for printing your own digital images. I do suggest you contact them and ask for a sample of their work on a variety of papers; Their web address is Aspen Creek Photo. Disclosure: I do not receive any compensation from Aspen Creek Photo. I am simply a happy customer of theirs. Email me for a price quote and details of the size of the prints I can offer at this time.
What kind of camera do you use?
Currently I am using Canon T1i with a Tamron 18-270mm lens.
Let me give you some money to buy a better camera.
Wow! Thank you!
Enough with the exposition and begging. Where’s your blog and photo gallery?
Blog: ”View from the Little Red Tent” Gallery: Not yet ready for prime time viewing.
