Spent the night in the Little Red Tent at Vogelsang last night; Mosquito hell, and worth every bite.
A special thanks to D. and J.–thanks for having the trail courtesy to turn around and come find me when I cried out as I fell. Thanks again for giving me a knee brace and carrying my tripod and sleeping mat to Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, lightening my load.
D. and J. were two men from Massachusetts who wore matching wedding bands; Yes, even “abominations” can be decent people.
I am fine, a scraped and bruised knee, that’s all. The Little Red Tent stayed behind at the camp–I’m going back next week!
Were you scoping out a picture when the mishap occurred? Sometimes an awesome shot can temporarily distract long enough for a missed step. Hope your knee heals quickly.
If you think of it, when you go back next week will you ask the workers there about mosquitoes and rain that last week in August? If they are there all summer they will probably know the probability of both.
Thanks for the recommendation on the day hike. I’ll get my map out later and locate it.
