This year I’ll be posting images in the run-up to the natural firefalls prime time in mid-February.
Note how the falls are not fully illuminated, and that there’s a shadow down and to the left. This shadow was moving up and to the left (from my perspective) as the sun moved into sunset.

Edie, this is a great idea ! Do you know, or have an estimate, of which day the ‘fire falls’ will occur this year ? We look forward to your postings.
Hi, Mike! I’d love to be able to tell you just when the “fire” will appear, but I can’t. No one can. It’s a crap shoot, pure and simple. Michael Frye has a really good article up on his blog about this very subject. See one of my previous entries for a link.
