Horsetail falls is one of those incredible crap-shoots; Galen Rowell is credited with having the definitive photos of the phenomenon often called the “natural firefalls”. In the month of February, the setting sun aligns on the southwestern horizon to illuminate the falls, causing them to glow for a few minutes in a wide range of colors in the red to gold spectrum. It truly is something that has to be seen to be appreciated.

Last year I wrote up an article on how to photograph Horsetail Falls, and it is still available in the sidebar. I will be updating it with the latest information on access to the best areas to view the spectacle within the next few days.
